City & Corporate: Lonmin revamps comms function

Platinum miner Lonmin has poached Finsbury associate partner Alex Shorland-Ball as the company shakes up its corporate comms.

Shorland-Ball started at Lonmin this week, a year after joining Finsbury from HSBC. She heads Lonmin's six-month old comms and IR division as V-P of IR and communications.

General manager Teresa Heritage has run the division since its creation last October. But Heritage, who is to remain in post, said Shorland-Ball had taken on full comms responsibilities and would not rule out a review of Lonmin's retained agency Cardew Group. It has handled Lonmin's corporate and financial comms since 1995.

Prior to joining Finsbury Shorland-Ball spent six years in HSBC's corporate broking department, leaving as associate director.
