ITV steals Hewitt adviser Godfrey

ITV plc has poached Trade and Industry Secretary Patricia Hewitt's special adviser, Jim Godfrey, to be head of corporate affairs.

Godfrey, who resigned last week to campaign in the general election, will join ITV in July, reporting to comms director Brigitte Trafford.

He takes on the corporate aspects of ITV's core broadcasting business previously handled by ITV Broadcasting director of comms Nicola Howson, who quit last year following ITV plc's creation (PRWeek, 10 December 2004).

Godfrey, who has been Hewitt's top media aide since 2001, is a former Labour Party press officer.
