'I met Julia in 1996 while she was working at a small City PR firm. Shortly after, she joined MacLaurin as an account manager.
'She immediately impressed in the consumer PR division, where she worked on a range of business, but became known by journalists as the PRO behind Thomas the Tank Engine. She was popular with clients, with an aptitude for spotting a problem before it came along, then solving it.
'She had a rare knack for identifying new business, too. One year, she earned more than some board members.
'Julia felt her future did not lie with MacLaurin's new owner after the 2001 sale and she moved to run her own niche PR agency.'
Julia Bolsom is now head of PR and marketing for The Perfume Shop.
