Gucci lures top Louis Vuitton PRO

AMSTERDAM: Premium fashion brand Gucci has snared Mimma Viglezio from luxury goods rival Louis Vuitton to be its Netherlands-based group worldwide director of communications.

Viglezio left Louis Vuitton last month and takes up the position on 1 June.

The post combines Gucci's head of corporate communications position, held until last year by Tomaso Galli, with that of worldwide comms director Lisa Shiek.

Galli left to became head of communications at Prada, while Shiek left with creative director Tom Ford, whose personal image she was largely responsible for at Gucci.

Ford and former chief executive Domenico De Sole quit after a disagreement with managers at Pinault Printemps Redoute, the French firm that bought out Gucci last year.

Viglezio will co-ordinate PR for each of Gucci's brands, as well as the firm's corporate profile.

Louis Vuitton Malletier has replaced Viglezio with Lancome press and public relations director Marie-Sabine Leclercq.
