Public Affairs: Debt body CSA in bid to lift profile

The Credit Services Association (CSA), the body that represents the UK's debt recovery agencies, has called in Bell Pottinger Public Affairs to boost its profile and influence in tackling the consumer debt crisis.

It has called for the Government to put more emphasis on credit advice through bodies such as Citizens Advice to address the national problem.

It is also keen to make its views heard on helping start-up businesses survive in order to cut commercial debt. The CSA has said business failure rates over the past four years have led to a 337 per cent rise in the use of debt collection agencies.

BPPA picked up the brief after a competitive pitch and will report to CSA chief executive Kurt Obermaier.
