Chivas looks for creative ideas

Chivas Brothers, the whisky business owned by French group Pernod Ricard, has held talks with UK agencies over international project work.

Brands to be promoted include flagship premium scotch Chivas Regal and The Glenlivet.

Chivas international PR manager Jim Long has sounded out London agencies with the view to handle projects across 16 brands.

Long confirmed he wanted to find agencies with international creative PR capabilities and without conflicts of interest.

He said no pitch process was planned and that a hire was unlikely before June.

He added: 'We are always looking at agencies.'

Chivas Regal is promoted internationally by Haygarth PR, which was brought in two years ago (PRWeek, 11 April 2003). Haygarth's work is not under review, Long said.

Pernod Ricard hit the headlines on Wednesday when it went public on details of its takeover talks with Allied Domecq.
