Public Affairs: WS wins campaign for central London college

Westminster Kingsway College has hired Weber Shandwick Public Affairs to help with a planning application for redevelopment at its Camden and Westminster sites. The college wants to attract more students.

Westminster Kingsway head of marketing Ijeoma Akigwe said it had hired a PA agency for the first time to communicate its redevelopment strategy to councillors in the borough, as well as the local community and potential students. The brief also includes community presentations and internal comms to explain the plan to staff.

Akigwe said the aim of the £70m redevelopment was to 'give students a better deal in terms of learning' when completed by 2011. The Kings Cross site is being rebuilt and the Victoria and Soho sites redeveloped.

The account is led by WS associate director Rebekah Paczek, reporting to Westminster Kings- way principal Andy Wilson and vice-principal Pauline Fellows.
