Staff exodus at Cable & Wireless

Telecoms provider Cable & Wireless has lost eight members of its 35-strong comms department.

Cable & Wireless head of media relations Peter Eustace has taken voluntary redundancy after a 15-year stint, along with media relations manager Justin Griffiths, head of public affairs Elizabeth Truss, director of UK public affairs David McConnell and internal comms manager Amanda Broatch.

The exodus follows the firm's decision to merge its London-based group corporate affairs department with its Bracknell-based central comms function.

Manager of foreign government liaison Angela Lovering-Moon has also retired early and two PAs have taken voluntary redundancy.

Director of corporate affairs Lesley Smith - who has overall responsibility for public affairs - remains.

The firm is searching for a head of public affairs, a public affairs manager, a media relations manager and a head of internal affairs.
