Marcoms jobs in jeopardy at BBC

More than a quarter of staff in the BBC's marketing communications and audiences division could lose their jobs as part of the cuts unveiled by director-general Mark Thompson.

BBC director of internal comms Russell Grossman said the cuts could affect around 26 per cent of jobs in the 450-strong division, which includes the BBC's corporate press office in London, and TV, radio and music PROs in the capital and regional offices.

A 46 per cent reduction in professional services headcount was announced by Thompson in the first round of the BBC's restructuring two weeks ago.

Grossman said it was 'too early to say' how many PROs would go.
