Euro Parliament calls in Quadrant

Quadrant has become the latest PR firm charged with lifting interest in EU politics among apathetic Britons.

The European Parliament (EP) has hired the Cardiff-based agency for a four-year campaign promoting MEPs and parliamentary news to UK local independent radio stations.

MD Colin Stevens said: 'Most of our everyday life is affected by Europe but there is not enough awareness of that among the public.'

Quadrant will monitor EP activities and email 'packages' of information and interviews with MEPs to radio stations in regions likely to be affected by developments.

Other agencies used by European institutions in the UK include Geronimo PR - around constitutional issues (PRWeek, 24 January) - and Weber Shandwick, hired to boost turnout in last year's Euro elections (PRWeek, 4 December 2003).
