Yahoo! Europe comms boss quits for Discovery

Yahoo! Europe corporate comms head Sue Jackson has left to join pay-TV channel operator Discovery Networks Europe.

A Yahoo! spokesperson said the company is already interviewing candidates to replace Jackson, who reported to Yahoo!'s US-based chief communications officer Chris Castrow and departs after five years.

Jackson is to join Discovery on 29 March as director of corporate comms with a pan-European remit. She replaces Virginia Lee, who left last September to relocate to Brussels. Jackson will lead a team of six, reporting to DNE managing director Robin Paxton.

DNE has recently expanded its lifestyle entertainment divisions to sit alongside its factual 'real-world' channels and has several channel launches planned throughout Europe in 2005, said Paxton.

Yahoo! is currently locked in talks with PR agencies as it looks to rebrand Launch, its streaming audio and video and online radio service, as Yahoo! Music.

Reports suggest Yahoo! is planning to launch a digital music store and player to rival Apple's iTunes.
