E-gambling firm Carmen in pitch

Gibraltar-based online gambling group Carmen Media is in talks with PR agencies about a UK launch.

The group is pitching through Cape Town-based e-commerce marketing firm ForwardSlash and is set to hire an agency at the beginning of next month.

A ForwardSlash spokeswoman said two agencies had been shortlisted.

Carmen has worked with Trimedia Communications on a project basis for international PR. The agency failed to return calls.

Carmen operates 11 online casinos and three online poker rooms. It was formed in 2002 and is wholly owned by CEO Tim Johnson.

Last March it combined seven flagship casinos and three poker rooms into online gaming super-group Belle Rock Gaming.

Johnson has made no secret of his enthusiasm for the European online gambling market. Last year the firm moved to Gibraltar and registered casino and poker licences in the UK territory.
