Diary: Women in PR group eyes CIPR women

Big news this week for PROs who like doing 'nice, girly things'. Networking group Women in PR is set to join the IPR (now the CIPR) in an attempt to expand its regional membership base.

Women in PR president Anne Howarth says the move will enable the group to target audiences outside the south east where it has 90 members.

Currently, she explains, members feel London is a bit too far to go for a 'cocktail party'.

'We're not into burning bras or that sort of thing. We focus on the concerns and challenges of women working in the industry - but we can do feminine things like going to health clubs too,' adds Howarth.

With around 5,000 female members of the CIPR to target, Howarth has a big challenge ahead but she remains upbeat: 'We'll be able to book a bigger venue knowing we're going to get attendance'.
