Microsoft names Aimi head of Latin American PR

Madrid – US software giant Microsoft has named Victor Aimi director of PR for Latin America in a newly created role where he will oversee 20 countries.

Based in Buenos Aires, Aimi will report to Microsoft's Latin America image and institutional relations director Leonardo Ortiz. He will manage a 26-strong team including Microsoft heads of communications in each country, and a six-strong Latin America PR team at Porter Novell in Mexico City.

Countries within his remit include Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Uruguay and Paraguay – those within the so-called 'Microsoft South Cone.'

Prior to the appointment Aimi was communications director for Microsoft Argentina for the past three years. It has not yet been decided whether to replace him, according to a spokeswoman from Salem Viale Y Asociados, the company's PR shop in Buenos Aires.

Aimi will work to hammer out communications strategies aimed at strengthening Microsoft’s image in the region. He will also promote Microsoft news to the media industry in Latin America, with no one country taking priority.
