Blázquez, who reports to chief executive of Peugeot Spain Deniel Rollet, replaces former department director Miguel Villarruel. She will oversee an eight-strong department based in Madrid, with management responsibility for media relations director Borja Sequlits.
Prior to the appointment, Blázquez handled external relations under Villarruel. The company is considering recruiting to replace this role. Peugeot will continue to use external agency support for individual projects.
Blázquez said she will focus on communicating the product values of 'dynamism, aesthetics, innovation and dependability.' 'All of our new vehicles have a strong personality and embrace these values,' she said.
Blázquez will also work on launch events later this year, the next being the new 407 Coupe.
Peugeot is one of the three leading car brands in Spain alongside Citroen and French rival Renault. It aims to sell 155,000 cars in the country this year – a slight decrease from last year's 157,000 units.
