Imagem was appointed following a competitive pitch which sees the bank consolidate its PR work, formerly handled by several agencies, according to agency partner director Ciro Dias Reis.
The group has about 3,000 agencies, 21,000 automatic teller machines, and 44,000 employees countrywide.
Imagem will manage media relations, additionally working on PR for the bank’s 60th anniversary celebration this year.
For Fundacao Itau Social, it will be in charge of organizing two annual prizes: the Itau UNICEF Award (for initiatives in the educational field) and the Entrepreneurs Award (for socially concerned business projects).
Reis will coordinate the account himself, with a team comprising Cecilia Barroso, Julana Almeida and Cristina Saquetin. They report to Banco Itau’s communications manager Paulo Marinho.
Imagem has substantial experience in the sector, having formerly managed the account for BBA, an investment bank that was incorporated into the Banco Itau group in 2002.
Imagem has 40 employees in its Sao Paulo office and partners in other eight Brazilian cities. Volvo, Basf, and local chemical group Petroquimica Uniao are among the agency's clients.
