US set to hire firm for war on terror

OMAHA: The United States Strategic Command (StratCom) is hunting a PR firm to conduct foreign media analysis in support of the war on terrorism – to the tune of $90m (£48.5m).

The winning agency will be asked to fulfil the account for up to five years.

The work includes statistical analysis indicating patterns in foreign broadcast, print and electronic media. Of particular concern is ‘the perception of US actions and communication, and potential opportunities and vulnerabilities associated with foreign perceptions’.

A similar contract, with a budget of $8.2m (£4.4m) for 11 months of work, is held currently by The Rendon Group, which represented the Kuwaiti royal family during the first Gulf War.
