Woking recycling move

Woking Borough Council is asking residents to recycle old Yellow Pages directories as part of a drive to cut the level of waste that goes to landfill.

The 2004 directories have been replaced by the 2005 editions, and the council wants old directories to help it meet its target of recycling 30 per cent of its waste in 2005/06.

The council kicked off its campaign last week with a photo-call featuring marketing assistant Laurie Sherwood, dressed in an outfit made from the directories. It is also running a wider local and regional media relations drive, and a poster campaign.
