Warsaw tourist body raises promotional funds

The Warsaw Destination Alliance (WDA) foundation has collected more than 800,000 zloty (£137k) from members to create a promotional campaign for the city.

The WDA comprises members from Warsaw's biggest hotels. Other participants include airlines, car hire firms, restaurants, galleries and museums. It launched the 'Warsaw Destination Donation' in January 2004, to create the promotional fund.

A voluntary payment of 1 euro per night is added to hotel bills, with guests informed of the goals of the foundation. Over 95% of guests have agreed to the payment.

The body aims to raise a total of 2 million zloty.
