Cook elected as HCA chairman

Healthcare PR veteran Julia Cook has been elected chair of the Healthcare Communications Association, the trade body for private sector healthcare communicators.

Cook, who received the unanimous backing of the executive committee at its AGM, said promoting the importance of return on investment for healthcare PR was a priority in what would be a ‘very challenging year’ for the pharma industry.

Formerly MD of Lowe Fusion Healthcare, Cook set up an independent consultancy, StepBack Healthcare, in 2002.

She takes over from Stuart Rose, who has stepped down after a year and is now global marketing director at Oxford Immunotec.

Julia Harries has taken over chairmanship of the training sub-committee, while Carys Thomas Ampofo has become chair of the evaluation sub-committee.
