Nott’m arts push to improve image

Nottingham City Council is promoting its forthcoming Pre-Raphaelite art exhibition as part of a strategy to shake off the city’s crime-ridden image.

It is the first time the exhibition has left its US home and council bosses hope that hosting exhibitions and events will help mend the city’s image, which has been tarnished by a number of high-profile shootings over recent years (PRWeek, 26 November 2004).

The council will promote the exhibition, which arrives at Nottingham Castle in June, at local schools, in promotional literature, on a website, and via local media relations.

Nottingham is currently on the hunt for an internal comms manager following the recommendations of a review of its 15-strong corporate comms team.

The review was carried out last autumn by Grant Riches Communications and recommended strengthening internal comms to its 14,000 staff.
