PRWeek appeals for industry aid

This week sees the launch of a PR industry fundraising sale on behalf of the victims of the Asian tsunami disaster.

PRWeek is calling on consultancies and client companies to donate surplus product samples, services and high-ticket items for a mega-sale to the public on 26 February, all proceeds of which will be donated to the Disasters Emergency Committee.

Agencies and clients are invited to man a stand or donate services for sale. A blind auction will also be held of high-ticket items Battersea Events Arena and Wandsworth Borough Council have donated used of the marquee – the venue for London Fashion Week – for the sale.

PRWeek is also looking for volunteers to leaflet and to help on the day, plus donations in kind of assistance with security, money handling, refreshments and printing.

PRWeek editor-in-chief Kate Nicholas said: ‘There’s so much stock languishing in cupboards in agencies and PR departments, and I would be very surprised if clients and CEOs didn’t support this initiative by allowing their sale. This is such an easy way to make a real difference.’ For further information visit The email to send donations to is
