Kilkenny will leave the ABHI, the trade body for manufacturers and distributors of medical device technology, to join Media Strategy next month as the agency bids to win more PR contracts from medical equipment providers.
Kilkenny joins the agency’s seven-strong healthcare team, which works for clients such as the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority, the National Primary Care Development Team and Swedish healthcare firm Capio, as a senior consultant. She will report to agency partner Andrew Harrison.
Media Strategy MD Charles Lewington said the agency currently works for just one, undisclosed, medical equipment firm and that such firms were a ‘target sector’ in an ongoing new-business push.
Kilkenny began work at the ABHI three and a half years ago, during which time she has built its comms team from scratch to four. A recruitment process for her successor is under way.
Recent priorities for Kilkenny at ABHI have been preparing written evidence for the ongoing Health Select Committee inquiry on the use of new medical technologies within the NHS.
