Diary: Let's Do Lunch

Babycream, Reviewed by Malcolm Cowing, joint managing partner, Brahm PR.

Hoping to build on its highly successful sister operation in Liverpool, Babycream in Leeds has a lot of offer. Situated on The Headrow, right opposite the town hall, the discreet entrance leads you to a long ground-floor cocktail bar with cosy booth seating.

A broad staircase leads you to a stylish and large first-floor restaurant, which combines a high ceiling, spacious table layouts and contemporary design. You are greeted by young, attractive and very friendly staff who happily help you through the comprehensive menu.

Unless you are really hungry, you don't need to go past the Baby Deli section. Share six or seven dishes with your client and you can be dipping into fabulous salt 'n' pepper goujons, tiger prawn Marinara, beef Yorkshire (with baby Yorkshire puds), chopped liver, Sicilian crusted beef and many more fusion cuisine combos.

If you want to venture to main courses there is a full and fabulous selection of meat, fish and big-plate offerings such as orange sesame duck and the VIP Burger. There is also a selection of Italian specials and lightweight salads, and the puddings are very exotic affairs.

A final endearing touch is a donation from every bill to homeless charity Street Smart.
