Diary: Healthcare PROs in tsunami-aid quiz

Healthcare PR agencies convened at the London Rowing Club in Putney on Monday night for a charity quiz to raise money for the tsunami relief effort.

Cohn & Wolfe won (and agreed to host a similar healthcare agency charity event next year), pipping Hill & Knowlton and Athena Medical PR into joint second.

Other well-placed teams included Burson-Marsteller and The Workhouse, while Shire Health International beat a second C&W team to the wooden spoon.

More than 20 teams entered the event, organised by Packer Forbes Communications, at which Kendle Healthcare boss Neil Kendle was question master.

One round was, ambitiously, devoted to questions on healthcare, which ranged from the easy - 'Who is CEO of GSK?' - to the more tricky - 'Which firms merged in 2004 to produce the new firm Astellas Pharma?'.

PRWeek's spy tells us the question 'What do the letters EMEA stand for?' caused 'consternation' in a number of teams who were not a ware that the word Evaluation has now been dropped from the European Medicines Agency's name.

'There was booing and hissing when the answer was read out,' observed our onlooker, who hastens to point out that an impressive £3,200 was raised for the victims of the Boxing Day earthquake and that the outbreak of disquiet was an isolated incident during the evening.
