CONSUMER Fast food retailer McDonald’s plans to boost its PR spend in the US by between 20 and 25 per cent this year as it steps up efforts to promote its food as suitable for an active, balanced lifestyle.

BROADCAST Broadcast PR firm Bulletin International has ‘joined forces’ with sister WPP firm Ogilvy PR Worldwide. The firm will relocate to Ogilvy’s Canary Wharf offices.

CONSUMER Nut producer Dormen Foods has hired NP to promote its 2005 range of nuts as it attempts to gain more supermarket and hotel distribution. The producer currently supplies nuts to Claridges and The Dorchester. Its new range includes Indonesian spiced Katjang nuts and caramelised and smoked almonds.

TECH Text 100 has poached AT&T and Lucent Technologies PR veteran Kathleen Fitzgerald to lead the firm’s newly launched global corporate communications practice in New York. Fitzgerald reports to chief executive Aedhmar Hynes.

CONSUMER Kitchenware manufacturer Addis has signed up Saffron PR after a three-way pitch against The Grove PR Consultancy and Lawson Dodd. The incumbent Romerco, which held the account for ten years, declined to pitch.

CONSUMER Bathroom manufacturer Showerlux has hired Lawson Dodd, with the agency taking over from incumbent Aiden Thomas after a three-way pitch.
