Burtonwood axes jobs and agency

Burtonwood, the pub chain and brewer, has axed its marketing department, which also dealt with PR, and ended its contract with Citypress PR.

The moves follow the acquisition of Burtonwood by Wolverhampton and Dudley Breweries (W&DB) earlier this month.

Three staff have been made redundant, including head of marketing Simon Eyles, who left last week.

The work done by Citypress promoting Burtonwood’s pubs and ales will now be incorporated into the remit of W&DB’s agency Vital PR.

‘It would not have made sense to have retained lots of different PR agencies,’ Citypress PR managing director Charles Tattersall told PRWeek.
