Kirchner's image suffers blow in wake of Cromagnon fire

The image of President Kirchner has suffered a significant blow following his silence in the wake of the Cromagnon disco tragedy in Buenos Aires, according to a recent opinion poll.

188 people died and over 700 were injured when fire broke out at a concert at the Cromagnon nightclub on December 31. The disaster was exacerbated by blocked emergency exits and the size of the crowd - nearly three times the venue's capacity.

The decision not to issue a press release or return to the capital until four days after the tragedy has cost him 13 positive image points, according to Telesurvey. It shows the worst weekly drop since his inauguration 19 months ago.
