It will use the magazine, entitled The Sharp End, to inform staff about developments in the police force such as the ongoing programme of reform.
It has drafted in contract publisher Square One Group to produce the magazine. Square One commercial director Sean King said: ‘Extensive research showed that a consumer magazine style would be the best way to engage officers and police staff.’
The 36-page magazine will be published ten times a year and have a circulation of 75,000. Copies will be distributed at police stations.
