Grayling grabs security body job

The Security Industry Authority (SIA) has hired Grayling as its first retained agency as it seeks to encourage the private sector to use only licensed security staff and companies.

The media relations drive will target businesses that require door supervisors, vehicle clamping companies and private investigators via specialist press.

Grayling UK PR chief executive Amanda Riddle said: ‘We want to raise the industry’s profile and explain that in using a licensed firm, you can be assured quality standards.’

She also plans to identify speaker opportunities for SIA CEO John Saunders and chairman Peter Hermitage.

SIA media manager Robert Buxton said: ‘We want to prepare the industry for the changes under new obligations under the law.’

Grayling picked up the account after a pitch against Fishburn Hedges and GCI.

The SIA was set up as a non-departmental public body funded by the Home Office last year.
