Shire Health poaches AZ’s Wright

Shire Health London has snared AstraZeneca global oncology PR manager Ali Wright to fill an associate director position and head accounts for Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD) and Roche.

Wright is promoting MSD’s Singulair asthma brand and Roche’s hepatitis C product Pegasys. The agency also handles UK comms for MSD’s Cozaar blood-pressure treatment.

Wright, who is also aiming to bring in new business, reports to Shire Health London MD Matt de Gruchy and joins a four-strong management team that also includes client services director Lucie Harper and associate director Sian Boisseau.

AZ director of global product comms Margaret Morgan is now hunting for a replacement.

Wright’s most recent role at AZ, where she worked for five years, was promoting brands such as Arimidex (breast cancer), Zoladex and Casodex (both prostate cancer).

Shire Health London sister company Shire Health International promotes Arimidex and Faslodex (breast cancer) brands globally.

Other roles Wright held at AZ included that of global internal comms manager and UK brand manager for Nexium (heartburn) and Amias (hypertension), having joined the Anglo-Swedish firm as an area sales manager.

Prior to AZ, she held marketing and sales roles at Reckitt & Colman.
