Travel site in bid for wider press

Price comparison website Travelsupermarket.com is bidding to gain coverage beyond travel media in personal finance, shopping and consumer affairs sections.

The company has hired BGB Communications to its PR account and is set to launch price comparisons for hotel and airport parking in February.

The one-year-old site, which recently added car rental and travel insurance searches to its flight comparison services, will use the neutrality of its searches to position itself as an ideal source of information on travel trends.

Director Chris Nixon said the offshoot of Moneysupermarket.com would primarily target national press to position itself as a time-saving shopping tool.
