Clinton Cards in flower campaign

Clinton Cards, the high-street retailer of greetings cards, is to use celebrities to attract national consumer media coverage as it introduces its flower-ordering service.

The chain of 780 stores is to sponsor Frank PR’s Celebrity Valentine of the Year Award; it will use national titles and women’s weeklies to encourage the public to vote in-store and online and to promote appearances by the winning celebrities.

The PR campaign marks Clinton’s first use of external PR support in a bid to expand on its awareness as a card retailer. From 1 February, customers will be able to order fresh flowers either online or through 250 of Clinton’s stores.

The move into flowers follows Clinton’s £46.4m acquisition of the Birthdays Group chain of 500 stores last month.
