Diary: McKeown hassled by Pinsent fan

Four-time Olympic gold medallist Matthew Pinsent has turned his back on rowing in favour of a job in PR for Sinclair Mason - or so it might appear to some.

Sinclair Mason associate director Justin McKeown was stalked by a fan of the knighted sportsman while handling PR for BT's Children in Need call centre.

'A woman came up to me and asked if I was going to mention the call centre on the TV,' he says. 'Naturally, I said "yes, that's my job, after all".' Before McKeown could say 'OBE', the star-struck fan had asked him for an autograph.

Unaccustomed to such attention, McKeown asked the woman who she thought he was. But she only laughed and said: 'Oooh, you and Steve Redgrave...' McKeown felt it would be safer to spend the night 'running the other way' whenever he saw her.

A few weeks and several mistaken spottings later, Blue Peter presenter Matt Baker joined the fray and agreed that McKeown bore an uncanny resemblance to Pinsent.

Uncanny, indeed.
