Diary: Mystery PR lady on Chequers guest list

The PR industry has mustered only one representative on a guest list for the PM's country retreat, Chequers.

The list, released after the introduction of the Freedom of Information Act, covers June 2001 to April 2003 and includes the likes of Andrew Lloyd Weber and chef Ken Hom.

Our industry champion is none other than 'fashion PRO' Alice Deen.

Who? A PRWeek investigation reveals Deen to be a 23-year-old former account manager at Purple PR, no less.

It seems Deen was not attempting to usurp Carole Caplin's role as Cherie Blair's fashion guru, nor was she summoned to sharpen up the PM's image.

Indeed, Deen has since left the fashion PR industry in favour of study.

Deen - the daughter of British interior designer Nina Campbell - is probably more likely to have simply followed pal and ex-housemate Geri Halliwell into the exclusive estate.
