Read, who quit the ECB last summer, complaining that it needed to ‘modernise’ (PRWeek, 16 July 2004), joins H&K as managing director of client counsel.
H&K MD corporate comms Stuart Wilson said Read would contribute vast international and corporate experience to the seven-figure DTC account, which the agency ranks among its top three corporate clients.
The DTC remit covers trade and issues management work in markets as diverse as the US, Israel, India and Hong Kong.
Read worked for PR consultancies Burson-Marsteller and The Rendon Group, before a five-year stint at the University of Warwick as director of comms and four years at the ECB. He will also work across sport and public sector clients at H&K.
