Carbon Trust aims energy-saving drive at UK firms

The Carbon Trust has begun a campaign to encourage businesses across the UK to be more energy efficient. The campaign aims to reinforce the messages that will arise at this year’s G8 summit, where climate change will be a key topic.

Carbon Trust director of marketing and communications Peter Hambly said: ‘Whether it is a strategic energy review for large energy users or the more straightforward actions, such as reminding employees to switch off their computers and lights at the end of the day, there are practical solutions we can all take to tackle the issue of climate change.’

Fishburn Hedges is handling the local and national media relations drive, having been hired last year (PRWeek, 20 February 2004). The campaign is accompanied by an advertising and direct marketing push between January and February.

In December, the Government admitted it would fail to meet its targets to cut carbon emissions in 2010 by 20 per cent of the 1990 levels.
