Diary: ...as ex-Tory shows community spirit

While on the subject of Tory spin, it's interesting to see evidence of Thatcherite doctrines being inadvertently rubbished in the press by one of the party's own.

Given that The Great Maggie famously said there was 'no such thing as society', we were intrigued to spot former party comms chief Amanda Platell wading into an ongoing row over the proposed relocation of a bus stand in her North London neighbourhood.

Platell tells the Ham & High: 'The green (at the centre of the dispute) is a symbol of community. I have lived here for ten years and when I arrived I was really struck by this community.'

The Iron Lady would surely be appalled by such collectivist thought from the PRO-turned-TV-presenter.
