Golden Jubilee National Hospital to stage PR pitch

The Golden Jubilee National Hospital, set up to help slash hospital waiting times across Scotland, is reviewing its PR support.

The hospital’s board is to stage a pitch for PR and media consultancy support with an emphasis on carrying out proactive promotion of its work and underlining its unique role in Scottish healthcare provision.

The account is currently held by two-year incumbent MEA Public Relations, which is based in Edinburgh, but is being reviewed as part of a regular process, according to business services director June Rogers.

The move follows the appointment during the summer of Jill Young as CEO

of the hospital, replacing Ian McAdam.

Also being considered, according to Rogers, is the hiring of the hospital’s first in-house PRO. ‘Traditionally, we haven’t had our own PR function. It has been handled by an external agency through the business services directorate but that may change,’ she said.

The Golden Jubilee National Hospital was acquired by the Scottish Executive for NHS Scotland in June 2002 for £37.5m. It was previously established as a private hospital by HCI (Scotland).

The Clydebank-based hospital, which is also known as the National Waiting Times Centre, receives additional PR support from the Scottish Executive.
