Trident MBO sees founders leave

Internal comms agency Trident Communications has undergone a management buyout with its co-founders – chairman Alan Peaford and chief executive Chris Murray – opting to sell their shares and leave the firm.

Trident has named Peter Agertoft as its new CEO while Mark Hannant takes the newly created role of chief operating officer. Finance director Simon Boden has become a major shareholder at the firm, whose clients include Shell, BP, Pfizer and Yorkshire Water.

Peaford and Murray will continue to provide part-time consultancy for at least a year. Peaford, said: ‘We are in our 50s and were eventually going to exit: when better than [an MBO]?’

Founded in 1990, Trident has offices in the UK, New York, Dubai and Munich.
