The firm, founded in 1905 as Cornhill Insurance, is now part of one of the world’s largest financial service providers, Germany-based Allianz Group. It plans to raise its profile in the national and regional press in a bid to attract large corporations.
‘Allianz Cornhill is well known within the trade press but we are not as well known in the national media as Cornhill Insurance was,’ said Allianz Cornhill group PR manager Mark Bishop.
Three agencies have been shortlisted for the account, which has a consumer element although the remit is mainly corporate PR.
Earlier this year, Allianz Cornhill announced an intention to strike more agreements with national brokers to push its loans and outlined plans to double its high-street broker network and focus on increasing its SME market share.
The insurer also recently launched a campaign to raise awareness about its motor insurance, using a survey that found that millions of motorists increase their chance of suffering whiplash by maladjusting their head rest.
Allianz Cornhill reported a 1.8 per cent overall increase in gross general insurance premiums of £1.4bn for the first nine months of 2004. Its non-life insurance profits reached £96.4m, up 18.4 per cent on the same period last year.
Cornhill Insurance was bought by the Allianz Group in 1986.
