US grocery body appoints Arthur

WASHINGTON: The Grocery Manufacturers of America (GMA), which represents the interests of the food, beverage and consumer products industries in the world’s largest economy, has appointed Steve Arthur as V-P of government affairs.

Arthur replaces Elizabeth Avery who quit to become V-P of international government relations at PepsiCo earlier this year.

He takes up the role on 3 January, joining from construction services firm Holcim, where he has been manager of public affairs.

According to a GMA spokesman, Arthur’s role will be to manage the body’s state government affairs work with a focus on nutrition and obesity issues. He will also lobby nationally on tax, energy and transport policies.
