Diabetes UK will inform journalists about the results of a survey into local differences in diabetes services across the country as its major PR activity for World Diabetes Day.
The day, initiated by the Brussels-based International Diabetes Foundation to raise global awareness of diabetes, will take place this year on 14 November.
Diabetes UK, whose six-strong press office is promoting the survey – undertaken by Dr Foster on behalf of the organisation – said this year’s PR activity will have a local focus as it seeks to assess the consistency of the implementation of the National Service Framework for Diabetes.
Diabetes UK will also launch a webpage that will enable people to access information about the standard of services in their area via a postcode search.
Explaining this year’s local focus, Diabetes UK said ‘that is where decisions are now being taken on diabetes services’.
The ultimate aim is to ensure people with diabetes get the best care possible from the NHS.
Internationally, World Diabetes Day this year carries the theme of ‘Fight obesity, prevent diabetes’.
