Ex-Flextech Television PR chief Suzy Lambert took the newly created post last week.
Her appointment is the result of a decision that split the responsibilities of the channel’s head of comms role, which covered marketing and PR, into separate marketing and PR functions with increased spends.
It follows the resignation three weeks ago of head of comms Helena D’Oliveira, who decided to go freelance because of the restructure.
Lambert is now the most senior PRO at the organisation and has overall responsibility for the channel’s PR, including power to hire external PR support for ad hoc projects.
Upcoming campaigns include raising awareness about the organisation’s 24-hour Aids programming during World Aids Day and promoting ‘the year of the volunteer’, which aims to get more people involved with volunteering.
The channel hired marketing agency Heavenly rather than appoint a marketing manager. Heavenly and Lambert report to controller Jane Mote.
Lambert, who was PR controller at Flextech Television, has managed PR for Bravo, Livingtv, Trouble and Challenge. ‘I [plan] to use my contacts and experience to help raise the profile of the channel,’ she said.
The Community Channel broadcasts 24 hours a day on Sky and Freeview.
