The body is to spend just over £50,000 on work such as helping it promote events at properties in the regions using regional media, according to senior comms manager Rebecca Milton.
‘The key target is to boost income to reinvest in the properties,’ she said. ‘We are funded partly by the government, partly by membership and partly by admission – but we are increasingly looking at fundraising to boost our income.’
The organisation uses Mitchell Halton Watson in the North-East and North-West, Footprint in the West Midlands and Yorkshire, and Grayling PR in the South-West. Until now it has used the Government News Network and in-house PROs to cover the regions being tendered for.
English Heritage owns more than 400 properties nationwide.
The tender, for one agency in all three regions or for separate firms, is expected to be awarded next February.
