The agency will launch a media relations campaign on Monday that will promote the WTM attendance of South African environmental affairs and tourism minister Marthinus van Schalkwyk and SAT chief executive Moeketsi Mosola.
Agency co-founder Ron Hepburn, who formerly promoted SAT when he worked for the tourist body’s former UK PR agency College Hill, is leading the account team.
His agency’s appointment is understood to be an interim PR measure until SAT cements plans for a pitch process first mooted earlier this year (PRWeek, 6 August). College Hill’s contract expired in August.
Also at the WTM, SAT will host a breakfast for journalists to promote South Africa’s hosting of the 2010 football World Cup.
Meanwhile, an awards ceremony will promote South African tourism businesses set up since apartheid was abolished in the country in 1993.
