Ex-CPA director in Brussels role

Former Citigate Public Affairs (CPA) director David Bennett has been made head of the new Brussels office of the Corporation of the City of London – with a brief to represent City views within the European Union.

Bennett, who leaves CPA after more than three years, took up the newly created post this week. He reports to the Sir Nigel Wicks-chaired EU Advisory Group, a cross-sector committee of City figures aiming to influence the EU on policies that affect the financial services market. But Bennett said: ‘It is not its job to lobby on policy issues.’

The office in Brussels is the first overseas operation set up by the Corporation of the City of London, with staff taking up positions since June.
