SHL, which has continued to handle trade PR and healthcare professional work for the smoking-cessation brand during that period, has won a competitive pitch to regain consumer-facing work for Nicorette.
News of the appointment emerges in the wake of a number of extensions into products such as the Nicorette Inhalator and Freshmint Gum.
In a statement, SHL associate director Sian Boisseau said: ‘This win completes the picture, meaning we again have both consumer and professional PR accounts.’
Fuel PR managing director Gilly Waddell referred PRWeek’s enquiry about the account to Pfizer, insisting: ‘As far as we are concerned, it’s business as normal.’
She declined to comment further.
SHL was first appointed to promote Nicorette in 1992, when the brand was owned by Pharmacia.
