Diary: Hit or Miss... Victory parade
London's bid to stage the Olympics in 2012 received a boost from the media this week during coverage of the Athens medallists' victory parade. Organised by the British Olympics Association to honour the likes of double-gold-medallist Kelly Holmes, it also served to spur on the campaign to bring the Olympics to the capital. Pundits were somewhat divided over the numbers who watched but nonetheless front-page coverage was assured. The Independent headlined its piece: 'Parade of Heroes sets the pace for London 2012 bid.'
