Renault Trucks names Spanish comms boss

Madrid – Renault Trucks has hired Pascale Erhart to handle communications in Spain, replacing Maria Luisa Cobos, who left the firm in Spring this year.

Erhart will handle internal and external communications, including media relations, for the company, a unit of AB Volvo, the truck franchise of Swedish carmaker Volvo.

Erhart, 36, will work with the company's Spanish agency, Rapp Collins, liaising with account director Jose Velasco. She will report to Jaime Pignatelli, the truck maker’s director general in Spain and Portugal.

Based in Madrid, she will oversee comms on her own and receive support from the company’s marketing department to set up publicity events.

Erhart will aim to strengthen Renault Trucks image and convey new product launches to the press, most notably the roll out of a new Magnum-brand truck in 2005. She will also promote the company’s sponsorship of Elisabete Jacinto, a Portuguese truck pilot, in next year’s Dakar race.

Jacinto was the first female to ever finish the long and famous rally , Erhart said, adding that she will compete in a 'made in Spain' 6-tonne Kerax-brand truck.

Erhart said she will help Juan Del Campo, comms boss for Renault Truck’s manufacturing unit Renault Industrial Vehicles, handle press for plans to lay off 500 workers in Madrid by 2006.

Renault Trucks has 20% of the Spanish over-6-tonnes truck market.

Prior to joining Renault, Erhart was a comms consultant for Spanish PR firm Image Profile, handling technology clients such as Cisco and NCR.
